The borough is located towards the outskirts of north-east London and was officially established as a borough in 1965. The borough is bisected by the North Circular, a major road route connecting eastern and western parts of North London. The Waltham Forest Town Hall is perhaps the borough’s most striking and impressive civic building, and the William Morris Gallery is packed full of fascinating artefacts relating to the life and work of a man considered to be the founding father of arts and crafts in England.
