Waltham Forest is a borough of London that lies between the City of London and Epping Forest. The borough is located towards the outskirts of north-east London and was officially established as a borough in 1965. Waltham Forest is primarily a built-up urban environment but it also contains areas of open space, including reservoirs and small sections of forest. The borough is bisected by the North Circular, a major road route connecting eastern and western parts of North London. Areas north of North Circular are generally less built-up or densely occupied by local residents and businesses than those to the south of what is a major arterial road link. The busiest and most populous parts of Waltham Forest are Chingford in the north of the borough and Walthamstow in the south.

Setting up your business here

There is a good supply of quality office space in various parts of Waltham Forest and particularly in the two main population centres around Chingford and Walthamstow. The entire borough is very well connected to other parts of Greater London via Rail and Tube. Southerly parts of Waltham Forest are served by the Central Line of the London Underground, while more northerly parts are connected to the Victoria Line. The London Overground also cuts through the heart of the borough. Businesses with offices in the area include the fashion retailer Blue Inc, the marketing agency Promo2u and TaxAssist Accountants.

Things to do in Waltham Forest

Waltham Forest is home to a series of reservoirs, all of which are thoroughly pleasant places to spend time wandering beside. The borough also has some excellent parklands areas such as Lee Valley Park and Walthamstow Marshes. Plus the parts of Epping Forest that are still intact make for an excellent and engaging visit. Other sites of interest in the borough include Queen Elizabeth’s Hunting Lodge, which dates back to the time of the Tudors, despite being made entirely of wood. The Waltham Forest Town Hall is perhaps the borough’s most striking and impressive civic building, and the William Morris Gallery is packed full of fascinating artefacts relating to the life and work of a man considered to be the founding father of arts and crafts in England. There is no shortage of great places to eat, drink and relax in Waltham Forest but any list of the borough’s best pubs will likely include the Nag’s Head on Orford Road, the Red Lion in Leytonstone and the Ye Olde Rose & Crown on Hoe Street in Walthamstow. Or if you’re looking for a great place to eat out, try the Orford Saloon Tapas Bar, the Trattoria La Ruga or the Village Kitchen Restaurant in Walthamstow.
