Hammersmith is a thriving commercial district located within West London – precisely five miles from Charing Cross – and it belongs to the Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham.

The district is notable for housing some of the capital’s most prevalent theatres; hence the area is immensely popular among both tourists and Londoners.

Setting up your business here

The address itself is desirably close to the River Thames (ten minutes from the main station), offering the stunning sight of the Hammersmith Bridge and its riverside, along with the amenities that accompany it.

Moreover the multi-cultural essence of the location translates into an attractive setting, bursting with numerous international restaurants – a major selling point to many. The district is also a significant transport hub, housing two underground stations and a bus station at Hammersmith Broadway, ensuring ease of movement to commuters.

Culture and Entertainment

Theatre is one of the area’s main strengths. The most renowned venues include the Hammersmith Apollo on Queen Caroline St which is best known for its focus on music but also for acclaimed comedy acts.

The Lyric Hammersmith on Lyric Square, King St is also world-famous, and beloved for its plays and community centre.

Further away – approximately a 15-minute journey by public transport – lies the Leighton House Museum and Art Gallery (Holland Park Road), as well as the Victoria and Albert Museum . Both are highly rated attractions.

The Bishop s Park (17 minutes by bus) is also a common favourite. Besides having stunning greenery, flower beds, a lake and a beach, the park’s location also means people can walk alongside the River Thames.

Eating out

Highly-rated on both TripAdvisor and Time Out, Shilpa is an unpretentious Indian restaurant specialising in the Keralan cuisine. What this restaurant lacks in décor, it makes up for in what really matters: the food. Expect generous portions, keenly priced at this absolute jewel of a restaurant.

Right opposite the Hammersmith Underground Station, there is the lovely and inexpensive Italian restaurant called Villagio. This place is particularly renowned for its superb food at reasonable prices – a rare combination to find in Central London.

The Californian-style Mexican food restaurant, Tortilla, is another attractive option and it’s located on King Street. This venue is much-loved for the informal, relaxing vibe, from its semi-exposed brick work and stools instead of chairs. A 15-minute walk will also take you to restaurants and pubs that are set beside the riverbank, should you want to explore the surroundings further.
