Sometimes referred to simply as Mann, the Isle of Man is a British Crown Dependency, which is self-governed and is positioned between Great Britain and Ireland in the Irish Sea. The island has a very long and rich history that is ripe for exploring through its various historical landmarks and structures as well as its museums. It has been inhabited since before 6500 BC and its history over the centuries is diverse and fascinating. A variety of businesses are situated on the Isle of Man, particularly in Douglas, which is the commercial centre of the island as well as its capital. When it comes to entertainment, there is something to suit everyone in the Isle of Man, with exciting venues, quaint pubs, live music, stage performances and more. Of course, the variety within the local vicinity will depend where you are on the island, but in general you will be able to sample everything from fresh seafood and traditional British dishes to European cuisine and more.

Transport Information

There are many unique and traditional modes of transport that can be used in the Isle of Man, although this does depend on your location. For more remote parts of the island a car is usually the most convenient choice but otherwise you can rely on everything from taxis and buses through to water transport, electric railways, steam trains, horse drawn trams and air travel. There is only one airport on the Isle of Man to be located in Ronaldsway.
