Basinghall Street is a street in the City of London. Named after the prominent Bassing family, the street is home to the Guildhall Building and the Mayor’s and City of London Court. The Bassing family built a mansion here in the 13th century and were granted certain privileges by the King of the time, Henry III. The street is in the ward of Bassishaw, which boasts a rich history and a number of places of interest, including the Guildhall Art Gallery and the Clockmakers’ Museum. The headquarters of the City of London Police can also be found nearby, while just a few minutes away is the Bank of England Museum and Mansion House.
