The town of Purley is located in the borough of Croydon. In the late 1800s, Purley was made part of the county of Surrey. During the early 1900s, it was made part of the Purley Urban District which was eventually abolished and the entire region was absorbed into Greater London. The Ministry of Defence has a huge presence in the area, in the form of Kenley Aerodrome. Transport Information

Purley and Purley Oaks are the two main stations that serve the area. Train services on the Brighton to London line can be accessed from here. Reedham station is also in the vicinity, with access to services on the Tattenham Corner line. Future plans are being considered for the expansion of the London Tramlink to include Purley as a new stop along the route. Heathrow and Gatwick Airports can be reached by road through Purley Way and onwards to the A23.
