Cardiff's enterprise zone to see 600,000 sq ft of Grade A Office Space

The Welsh government wants to create 600,000 sq. ft. of Grade A office space in Cardiff’s enterprise zone for the financial and professional services sector, according to representatives.

It is part of the government’s stimulus plan where it has created enterprise zones in several of its cities and towns aimed at targeting different sectors.

The proposed site, Callaghan Square, located near Cardiff Central Rail Station at the heart of the Enterprise Zone is said to be valued at £7.5m.

However there has been a conflict of interests in the site with the council intervening in the closing stages of a joint venture deal between the government and the sites landowners MEPC.

The Wales Online revealed that the government had backed out of the deal in the summer after the council insisted it wanted to buy it for itself.

The council has made a bid of £7.25m for the site with MEPC reciprocating with its deadline of Friday to complete the bid.
