SOS official charity: The Michael Green Foundation
Here at Search Office Space, we are proud to continue our support of local charity, The Michael Green Foundation.
The Foundation is set up in honour of Michael Green, a former Search Office Space employee, who, tragically, suffered a silent heart attack due to complications arising from Type 2 Diabetes in 2012. His wife set up the foundation in his memory and has already been making a difference. She raised £10,000 towards a Dietetic Educational Kitchen at Watford General Hospital, to help those suffering from Diabetes to understand the diet they need to undertake, and this was opened in December. The Foundation is now well on their way to their next target of £20,000, which will go towards a pilot scheme of a dedicated dietician to work with the facilities in the educational kitchen.
Joanne Green, founder of The Michael Green Foundation, said, “What better way to create a lasting legacy of Michael’s life, whilst at the same time endeavouring to help others and prevent them from suffering in the same way.”
In 2014, we will be supporting the charity with a number of events. In the summer, members of the team will be running the London 10k in honour of the charity. In October, we will be hosting a Golf Day with our clients which will raise vital funds, too.
The charity have also arranged a series of events, including a Supper Quiz in September, with a raffle and auction, in Elstree, The event will include a talk from Dr Arla Ogilvie, a specialist in Endocrinology and Diabetes, a 3 course meal and a quiz.
Steve Moore, Global Marketing Director, said, “Creating awareness of the symptoms of Diabetes and in particular those for type 2 is vital to save lives. The Michael Green Foundation work hard to provide resources and support for those living with Type 2 and also the work they do to improve general awareness is already helping many people benefiting from their work.”
