UK Government creates 4 enterprise zones to help small businesses

The UK Government recently confirmed that the four new enterprise zones will be located in Birmingham, Bristol, Leeds and Sheffield.

Zones were chosen by the relevant local enterprise partnerships and are expected to increase local economic growth and create an additional 24, 000 jobs throughout the UK.

Nick Appleyard commented in “The zones will benefit from discounts on business rates, new superfast broadband, lower levels of planning control and the potential to use enhanced capital allowances.”

The idea is to create favourable conditions so small businesses all over the country can effectively grow. 10 more zones are expected to be created throughout the UK.

David Cameron said: “It won’t be Ministers in Whitehall who can drive [growth in the Enterprise Zones]; it will be those with the great business idea who are ready to start up, the entrepreneurs who want to grow their company, the businesses looking to expand into new markets.”
