Bordeaux is a port city on the Garonne River in the Gironde department in southwestern France. The Bordeaux metropolitan area has the sixth-largest urban population in France. The men of Bordeaux are known as "Bordelais" and the women are referred to as "Bordelaise.” Bordeaux is at the centre of one of France’s most famous wine regions. This area also offers incredible dining opportunities, and is a relaxing and romantic area for travel.
Bordeaux’s wine industry is one of its major economic resources and the city hosts the world’s main wine fair, Vinexpo. Besides wine, ten’s of thousands of people work for the aeronautical industry in Bordeaux. The city is home to some of the biggest aeronautical companies including Dassault, EADS Sogerma, Snecma, Thales, SNPE, and others. Dassault Falcon private jets are built in Bordeaux, as well as the military aircraft Rafale and Mirage 2000, the Airbus A380 cockpit, the boosters of Ariane 5, and the M51 SLBM missile. Many buildings throughout Bordeaux offer serviced offices around the aeronautic companies.
Sightseeing in Bordeaux will include many museums, such as the Musée d’Art Contemporain. Housed in a monumental colonial warehouse, this contemporary art museum offers an excellent collection of arte povera (Italian for ‘poor art’). This is the experimental art of the late 1960s. They also offer a vast selection of temporary exhibits. For dining, Philippe Chez Dubern specializes in fish and seafood. This restaurant was founded in 1886 by the Dubern brothers. The menu uses the best produce, cooks items simply but perfect, and serves the food in airy rooms with crystal chandeliers.
The Bordeaux-Mérignac Airport is west of the city. This regional airport offers mostly domestic and international flights targeted at connecting Bordeaux to European ‘hub’ airports like Paris, London, Madrid, and Amsterdam. An express bus runs every 45 minutes from the airport to the city centre, with stops on the demand. The main train station in Bordeaux is Gare Saint Jean, and it is located close to the centre of town. Buses, trams and taxis leave from the station to destinations throughout France and to other points in the city. By car you can reach Bordeaux from the north - taking the A10 highway or N10. From the south and east - take the A63 highway.
Prices typically are all-inclusive of utilities costs, broadband, meeting room access, and are exempt from business rates (package varies per office).
