Roubaix is a commune in the Départment du Nord in northern France. It is located between the cities of Lille and Tourcoing. The former heart of the French textiles industry, Roubaix is historically known as the ’City of 1,000 Chimneys’ and many of the old factories are still standing. One of the area’s shopping malls is L’Usine (The Factory). This massive mall offers well-known brands with discounts of up to 60%.

A number of the town’s older commercial structures have been converted to provide executive suites. A great deal of effort has been put into the restoration and improvement of the old industrial buildings which now have new uses, the most popular is perhaps the extensive factory price shopping centre. The Archive for the World of Work building is another good example as it is located in a converted cotton mill.
