Emirates Road was renamed the Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road in January 2013, in honour of the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi. This 12 lane highway is located in the United Arab Emirates, and is also known as E-311. It is 140 km (87 miles) in length, with 73 km (45 miles) located within geographical area of Dubai. Emirates Road is a vital artery in the UAE, designed to connect the Emirates, provide a strategic land transport system between Dubai and the neighbouring principalities, and allow national development and expansion on both sides of the thoroughfare.

The starting point of Emirates Road is at the Jebel Ali Free Zone which is situated at the far western end of Dubai, near Abu Dhabi. This free zone is home to over 6400 companies and over 120 Fortune Global 500 Corporations. Companies with office space or other facilities in this area include Halliburton, DQE International, Saiga, AMES, and Michelin. There are various development projects along the Emirates Road stretch of highway that are in varying stages of completion. These include International City, Arabian Ranches, Dubailand, Dubai Silicon Oasis, Global Village, and Sports City. Dubai Silicon Oasis is home to companies such as SAP, Philips, Fujitsu, AMD, Western Digital, Synopsys, Corning, and Schneider Electric.

Entertainment And Dining Out

Emirates Road provides easy access to Dubai Sports City, offering a fully operational 25,000-seat capacity Dubai International Cricket Stadium, and an 18-hole championship golf course, The Els Club. Along Emirates Road there are many dining establishments that include options found at Courtyard Dubai, the Mall of Emirates, and Le Meridian Mina Seyahi Beach Resort. Restaurants along this road include India Palace, Rhodes Mezzanine, The Cavendish Restaurant, Nobu, Sukh Sagar, and Dukkan Falafel.

Transport Information

Emirates Road begins at the Jebel Ali Free Zone in Abu Dhabi. The road goes through the emirates of Dubai, Sharjah, Ajman, Umm Al Quwain, and ends in Ras Al Khaimah. There are numerous junctions allowing drivers to access the entirety of the UAE road network. The Dubai International Airport is located about an hour from Emirates Road.
