Entertainment And Dining Out

With plenty of sunshine and endless stretches of golden beaches, there is certainly a large choice for beach activities. Spain’s allure extends beyond the beach, with mountainous national parks in Asturias providing scenic hiking in alpine environments, and Galicia’s craggy environs featuring isolated bays and picturesque fishing villages. Dining is a big part of the social life of Spain. Try a sample of the cuisine by ordering tapas, small snacks served with drinks in local bars across the country. The tapas range from gourmet canapés to a simple plates of olives. Spanish drinks are also unique and represent the country. There are choices that range from sangria to the sophisticated Rioja wine. Or try Jerez - a sweet juicy dessert wine of the same name and Valencia for a taste of the Agua de Valencia (cava with orange juice). Spanish culinary specialities include Paella and other rice dishes, Cocido, fabada, and butifarra amb mongetes - hearty regional stews of beans or chickpeas and meat, and Tortilla - a rich, chunky potato omelette - a staple throughout Spain.
