Bloomsbury Square is a garden in the Borough of Camden and the district of Bloomsbury in north west London. The square lies in the heart of an area of London renowned for its centres of learning, for its museums and for its association with literary culture and publishing over the past few centuries. Bloomsbury Square was developed by the 4th Earl of Southampton in the late 1600s and was one of the first gardens of its kind established in central London. Today, there are numerous other similarly-constructed parks in the area, including Russell Square, Bedford Square and Soho Square Gardens. Despite being close to the commercial heart of Londons West End, Bloomsbury Square is a very peaceful environment and a great place to relax and spend time.
Setting up your business here
Offices on Bloomsbury Square are sought after in part because they are in the heart of Bloomsbury but also because they are close to a number of other key London districts including the West End, Holborn, Westminster, Covent Garden and Soho. Transport links to and from the areas around Bloomsbury Square are exceptionally good, with both London Euston and St Pancras International train stations nearby, as well as the Tube stations of Holborn and Russell Square. Businesses based in offices around or very close to Bloomsbury Square include the music publisher Faber Music, the environmental consultants of Energy & Environmental Systems Ltd, the lawyers of the City Disputes Panel and the PR firm Story Public Relations.
Culture and Entertainment
Perhaps the best thing to do in Bloomsbury Square is the most obvious and that s to simply enjoy a walk around the square itself. There are more spacious parks in London, such as the nearby Regent s Park or Hyde Park but few with quite the charm or sense of tranquillity that Bloomsbury Square can offer. The square is also within very brief walking distance of the British Museum, one of London and the UK s foremost visitor attractions. Other nearby destinations with plenty of appeal include the various theatres of London s famous West End, the retail outlets of Oxford Street and the selection of tourist attractions in Westminster and along the banks of the River Thames.
Around Bloomsbury Square there are some great places to eat out, such as the Cafe Le Cordon Bleu, the Salvador & Amanda, which serves excellent Spanish tapas, and the Amarcord Italian on Southampton Row. Meanwhile, among the best places to grab a drink in the local area are All Star Lanes, the Truckles of Pied Bull Yard and the Lamb, on Lamb s Conduit Street.
