Throgmorton Street is located in a central location in the City of London. The street derives its name from the head of an ancient Warwickshire family – Nicholas Throckmorton – who also held the prestigious position of the chief banker of England during the reign of Queen Elizabeth the First. The site of the former London Stock Exchange, the area continues to attract hundreds of thousands of visitors and business people throughout the year. The Bank of England and the museum that it houses are situated a stone’s throw away and also attract numerous visitors to the area. Mansion House, the palace of the London Mayor, is another London landmark that is in the vicinity.

Business Information

Throgmorton Street houses several specialist retail stores, one of the most prominent being Penhaligon’s. This elite store that sells perfumes and scents has been the recipient of two Royal Warrants and is sought out by the aristocracy and the discerning serf. Similarly, Beau Gems is another exclusive outlet in the area for exquisite gems and jewellery. Various businesses such as computer software development firms, estate agencies, recruitment companies, marketing consultants and financial advisors also rent offices in the area.

Entertainment And Dining Out

The Bathhouse makes for a unique night of entertainment in the area. Originally built as a Turkish bathhouse, it has been converted into a burlesque club that holds unusual live cabaret performances. The Proud Cabaret City is another nightclub where you can enjoy live Jazz music as well as exotic dance shows. Brasserie Blanc, the signature restaurant of renowned TV chef Raymond Blanc, offers fantastic French cuisine with a British flavour. If you’re in the mood for some more casual dining, the Nusa Kitchen deli and cafe is a great choice.

Transport Information

Bank is the closest tube station, which is just a short walk away from the street. Within easy walking distance are Moorgate and Liverpool Street tube stations, both of which provide access to the Central, Circle, District, and Northern lines. The mainline railway network can be joined at Moorgate and Cannon Street railway stations. Numerous road, bus and cycle routes make the area well connected to the rest of London.
