Crystal Palace still retains much of its Victorian architecture and is named after the former local landmark, the Crystal Palace, which stood from 1854 to 1936, to be replaced by Crystal Palace Park shortly after. Within the area known as the “Crystal Palace Triangle” is an expanse holding a number of restaurants, independent shops, galleries and other businesses bordered by Westow Street, Westow Hill and Church Road. Arthur Conan Coyle was a regular visitor to the area which was also the setting for a number of TV and film scenes including The Italian Job and Our Mother’s House.
