Catford is in the London Borough of Lewisham, in south east London. Catford Broadway, in the centre, is a priority area for regeneration, as is Catford Island and the market. This is set to bring an influx of business and commerce into the area. The first round of redevelopment started in 2011, and refurbishment of the main street started in 2013. Catford has some buildings of historical importance, including Broadway Theatre, an impressive Art Deco building which adjoins the town hall. Although in the centre of London, there are green spaces and several parks in Catford. The name is Saxon and relates to the place where cattle used to cross the river Ravensbourne.

Things to do in Catford

Iona Close Orchard is a nature conservation area and a beautiful example of a Victorian garden. Catford has a thriving local community, and there are several local sports clubs to join. The Catford Cycling Club was founded in 1886 and makes regular excursions to this day. On a sunny afternoon you can talk a stroll along the Waterlink Way which follows the Ravensbourne river and runs through Riverpool Park. Catford Shopping Centre has all the high street shops, as well as several restaurants. La Pizzeria Italiana is in the centre of Catford and perfect for a lunchtime bite to eat. A2 Delicious is great for dining with clients, and you can relax after work at the Sanctuary Wine Bar. If you are looking for a top night out, the Broadway Theatre is well-known for stand-up comedy shows as well as musicals and popular plays.
