Comprising parts of the boroughs of Greenwich and Bexley, the SE2 postcode covers places such as Abbey Wood, West Heath and Crossness. The area boasts a long history and was home to the Lesnes Abbey, which was founded in 1178 but was one of the first to be closed by Cardinal Wolsey in the 1500s as part of the Dissolution of the Monasteries. The ruins can still be seen today and provide a fascinating insight in the varied history of the area. SE2 is also home to Abbey Woods, part of which have been designated a Site of Special Scientific Interest.
