About Brick Lane

Brick Lane is a street in the Borough of Tower Hamlets in east London that runs from Bethnal Green Road south towards Whitechapel and Aldgate. The road is famous for its association with Anglo-Indian and Bangladeshi communities and particularly with a wide variety of Asian cuisines. Brick Lane is as bustling and vibrant an area as there is to be found in London, and there is much more to it than just curry houses and Indian food. There is a thriving community of small and medium-sized businesses operating from offices along Brick Lane, and the area as a whole has benefitted considerably from the regeneration of much of east London in recent decade.

Undoubtedly, one of the best things to do in Brick Lane is to try one of the area’s famous Indian or Bangladeshi restaurants. There are plenty to choose from all along the lane, with well-established favourites like Cinnamon, Sheba and Monsoon among the best. Brick Lane also spoils its visitors for choice in terms of bars, pubs and clubs. Among the best and most popular are Exit Bar, Casa Blue and Vibe Bar. Elsewhere, you’ll find quirky but brilliant destinations like the ten-pin bowling venue All Star Lanes and the Old Truman Brewery, which has been inventively reimagined as an art, dining and boutiques complex.
