The charming seaside town of Herne Bay can be found in Kent, just 7 miles from Canterbury. Part of the City of Canterbury district, the town grew from a small shipping area into the vibrant town that it is today. This was helped along in the 19th century by investors who build the promenade and the pier here – the pier being the second longest in the UK until the late 1970s. The award winning beach here has been awarded Blue Flag status and stretches for two miles. You will find plenty of entertainment and action around the seafront including eateries, amusements and even a Victorian bandstand. Reculver Country Park is a popular attraction in the area (3 miles from Herne Bay) with its historic structural remains and fascinating wildlife.
