Sometimes referred to affectionately as just Kiddy, the town of Kidderminster in Worcestershire lies in the Wyre Forest district. Just seventeen miles from the centre of Birmingham, the town has a rich history and is the birthplace of the modern carpet industry, which was founded there in 1785. Kidderminster has been home to a number of notable people, including Sir Rowland Hill who invented the Penny Black and Walter Nash, who went on to become the Labour Prime Minister of New Zealand.

Once known for being the birth place of the modern carpet industry, the office space in Kidderminster is now taken by a number of different business types and professionals. Brinton Carpets, the company behind the modern carpet industry in the town, is still situated here and is a major employer in the area. Victoria Carpets is also situated here and is the provider of carpets for the world famous Eiffel Tower. A number of retailers are also located here including Marks & Spencer, TK Maxx, Next and Brantano.

Transport Information

The area is served by two railway stations, the first of which is Kidderminster Railway Station, offering services to Birmingham, London and Worcester. There is also the Kidderminster Town Railway Station, which runs on the Heritage Railway Line and offers services to Bridgnorth. A good road network in the area means drivers can get around with ease, with major roads in the area including the A456, the A451 and the A442. Birmingham International Airport offers the closest international air travel links.
