The district of Mitcham is located in the borough of Merton, on the border of Inner London and Outer London zones. While the district was historically part of the county of Surrey, it was later absorbed in the Greater London. The name of the region is of Old British origin, denoting an area that is considered to be a ‘large settlement’, which is exactly what Mitcham has grown into. Mitcham Common is one of the famous landmarks in the region, covering an expanse of 460 acres of green open space that is a haven for those looking for some peace and serenity. Other notable places of interest include the Wandle Industrial Museum, St. Barnabas Church and an iconic historical building called Mitcham Court.

Mitcham is home to large and varied businesses such as accountancy firms, financial advice companies, graphic designers, computer professionals and insurance agents; all of which occupy a large amount of office space in the region. Transport Information

Mitcham Junction is the main railhead. Mitcham Eastfields station also serves the area well. Regular train services to London Bridge, Victoria and Blackfriars stations can be accessed from here. Streatham is a stop along the train routes into London, from where a change trains to take you directly to Luton Airport. The town is on the Tramlink route, providing convenient access to Croydon and Wimbledon, from where the London Underground network can also be accessed.
