Reading is a large town in the English county of Berkshire. Sitting within the Thames Valley, Reading is a major business and commercial centre that lies at the confluence of the Thames and the River Kennet. The town has a long history as an important site in Berkshire and southern England, with Reading Abbey having emerged as a prominent monastery with royal connections during medieval times. Reading also played a very significant role in the English revolution of 1688 and was in fact the only place that saw military action during what was a largely bloodless conflict. Today Reading is associated in no small part with its best-known sports clubs in Reading Football Club and the rugby union team London Irish. The town is also popularly associated with the Reading Festival, one of the largest annual music events staged anywhere in the UK.
Reading is home to dozens of businesses, from large-scale international operators to start-up companies and small firms. The town lies close to the M4, which takes motorists directly towards London from the west. Central London is around 40 miles east of Reading and all the capital’s major business districts are therefore within easy reach of the town via rail or road. Major employers headquartered in Reading include the multinational support service and construction company Interserve and the oil and gas well management business Expro. The private utility company Thames Water is also based in the town, as is the BG Group, a multinational oil and gas company listed among the FTSE 100.

There are a number of popular museums and sites of interest in and around Reading such as Basildon Park, a Georgian mansion surrounded by parkland, and Reading Abbey which still stands in the centre of the town having been erected in the early 12th century. The Museum of Reading welcomes visitors throughout the year, as do the Museum of English Rural Life and the REME Museum of Technology. The town itself has plenty of great places to shop and relax and the nearby Thames and Kennet rivers offer some amazing views from a variety of vantage points. There are some excellent traditional pubs in Reading, like the Reformation and the Sweeny & Todd. Plus there are top class restaurants as well like Kyklos, which serves a winning blend of Greek fusion, as well as the London Street Brasserie.
Prices typically are all-inclusive of utilities costs, broadband, meeting room access, and are exempt from business rates (package varies per office).
