Washington is a small village in the county of West Sussex. It lies west of Steyning and between the towns of Horsham and Worthing. With a population of just a few thousand, the village boasts small town charm and character. It is the site of the Chanctonbury Ring, which is a fort at the top of a hill by the same name. The hill is a Site of Special Scientific Interest due to woodland growing on the chalk slopes. South Down slopes can be found nearby and St. Mary’s Church is one of Washington’s biggest landmarks.

In terms of eating out, the village has a variety of options with The Frankland Arms serving authentic British food and ale. The Chardonay is another great traditional English restaurant, and is a short distance from Washington, towards Pulborough.

Transport Information

The nearest major road to the village is the A283, which runs to the north. There are a number of smaller arterial roads that allow bus and coach traffic to access the village. The A24 also runs through the village, connecting to the A283 to Storrington. Southampton Airport is the closest link to air-travel while Horsham railway station, along the Arun Valley Line, is the nearest access point to the railway network.
