The ceremonial county of Hertfordshire is one of the Home Counties, boasting a rich history that dates back many centuries. The area was originally earmarked for a fortress that was built in Hertford in 913 and there is evidence of human occupation in the area dating back to the Middle Stone Age. Today, Hertfordshire still takes pride in its rich heritage but also boasts many modern facilities and amenities as well as being home to a diverse array of unique cities and towns, including England’s second garden city, Welwyn Garden City. The county is packed with fascinating historical and cultural attractions such as Hatfield house where the 1989 Batman film and sequel Batman returns (1992) was filmed in parts.
