Reigate is one of the main towns in the borough of Reigate and Banstead in Surrey. Its position at the foot of the famous North Downs chalk hills offers breath taking natural backdrops. The area is also home to another natural phenomenon in the form of Colley Hill, which has the distinction of being the 6th highest point in the county. There is evidence of ancient settlements in the vicinity, dating back to the Bronze Age. The area witnessed rapid expansion after the first railway line was opened here in the mid 1800s. Today, Reigate enjoys a reputation as a gourmet dining and retail shopping epicentre, encouraged by its scenic beauty and excellent transport links into London.
