Alton is located at the intersection of the A31 and A339. This gives the town direct access to Winchester, Basingstoke and Aldershot. There is a direct link to the National Rail network at Alton railway station. The town also boasts a well-connected road system and offers public transportation via its buses, coaches and taxi services. Most buses leave from Alton Railway Station and follow various routes around the town and surrounding area. Many of these routes, including the 23 and 24, make stops on Alton High Street.
