Swindon is a town in the county of Wiltshire and lies between the cities of Bristol and Reading. Historically, the town was an important stop along the transport lines that crossed the entire region. Today, Swindon is home to various places of interest and landmarks including the Bodleian Library, which has over 153 miles of bookshelves. The Steam Railways Museum and Swindon Art Gallery are major landmarks along with places like The Museum of Computing and Swindon Robins, which is a racing circuit in the area. The town is also linked to a number of famous people including Billy Bodin, Dean Ashton, Diana Dors, Thaila Zucchi and Maria Rubia.

Business Information

Swindon has always been a hub for manufacturing and Honda, Mini Cooper and Motorola have their facilities in the area. Dolby Labs and Halcrow Group have office space in Swindon while Intel’s European head office is also situated here. Swindon is also home to software firms, recruitment agencies, construction companies, publishing houses and translation service-providers. Almost all major banks, including NatWest and HSBC, have facilities in the area while Alcatel-Lucent and Reckitt-Benckiser have a presence here as well.

Entertainment And Dining Out

Swindon is renowned for its entertainment with a number of festivals taking place all year round. Swindon Arts Centre is the place to go to catch live-music shows while places like the Wyvern Theatre are ideal for fans of the performing arts. Swindon has a number of eateries that serve everything from Indian cuisine to local classics. Transport Information

There are a number of roads in and around Swindon, which are frequented by drivers, taxis, buses and coach services. The A3102 and A346 pass through the town, as do the A420, A4259 and A419. The M4 motorway is the main motorway link for the town while Swindon railway station is one of the main stops on the Great Western Railway Main Line on the way to Gloucester. The closest international airport is Bristol Airport.
