The vibrant city of Newport is located on the River Usk in South East Wales, and lies just twelve miles from the capital of Cardiff. The third largest city in Wales, Newport boasts a rich history, having been an important port since the medieval era, which was when the Normans built a castle here. The coal industry resulted in the city experiencing significant growth in the 19th century and today it is a melting pot of culture, diversity, history, entertainment, and commerce. Transport Information

Newport provides convenient links to major road networks. The M4 motorway can be reached by taking the A48 or the A4042. Buses and taxis are readily available in the city, which is ideal for those who do not drive. Newport railway station provides access to a network of trains, operating on the Great Western Main Line. There are very convenient bus and rail links to Cardiff from Newport, with Cardiff also providing the nearest major air transport link.
