A cross street in the southern area of the Central Business District of Sydney, Bathurst Street is located in the Australian state of New South Wales. The street runs east to west, with one end at Darling Harbour and the other at Hyde Park. The street runs across the ridge and crosses George Street and Elizabeth Street. One landmark on the eastern end of the street is a heritage-listed obelisk that was erected in 1857. This obelisk offers an example of the Victorian Egyptian style, its design was based on Cleopatra’s Needle in London.
