Port Botany is a suburb located 12 kilometres (7 miles) south east of the Sydney central business district in the state of New South Wales, Australia. On 29th April 1770 Captain James Cook landed on Botany Bay when navigating his way around Australia. Part of the local government area of the City of Randwick, Port Botany sits on the northern shore of Botany Bay. The suburb is bordered by the suburbs of Matraville, Banksmeadow, and Phillip Bay.
