B&Q moves house to new eco-friendly headquarters in Southampton

Over the next few months, approximately 1, 400 B&Q staff will move to a new sustainable, carbon neutral building adjacent to their current HQ on Chestnut Avenue in Potswood, Southampton.

The new property named B&Q House comprises of 220, 000 sq ft of floor space and has been built using the latest green technology. A B&Q spokesperson said: “B&Q will be using biomass boilers to power the heating system and there will be a 100,000 litre rainwater harvesting tank, which will be used to irrigate the surrounding landscape and to flush the toilets.”

B&Q House will be officially opened September 2011 by architect and TV Presenter George Clarke and sailor Dame Ellen MacArthur.
