Business Centres of the Month: King Street and Minories
August is upon us and let’s hope it will continue to be the pleasant and sunny summer that we have been spoilt with so far!
Last month, Pure Offices with their Thorpe Park, Leeds, centre were our winner. This month, the quality of applications was so high that we decided to choose a Northern and Southern winner. Our winner for the North is Orega’s King Street business centre in Manchester and, for the South, Business Environment’s Minories centre in London.
Our first winner of Business Centre of the Month is Orega. Formed in autumn 2000, they have grown to now having eleven locations across the UK, with their twelfth opening at the sought after Manchester MediaCity location in late 2014.
The centre at King Street opened on 5th August 2013, boasting a central location in the city. Located in Manchester’s prime commercial core, the centre boasts an impressive 21,500 sq ft and has recently undergone extensive refurbishment to provide Grade A office accommodation within the listed building façade. Key features of the location are its extensive break out lounge which is set away from the office space and the roof terrace – nice for a break away from the computer!
The history of the building makes this a fascinating building too. Originally designed by eminent Architect, Alfred Waterhouse, this property on King Street was the Prudential Assurance Building, a key presence on King Street in the heart of the North West’s financial centre in the 19th century. It now occupies a prominent position in Manchester’s prime retail, commercial and leisure core which offers a unique opportunity for new Grade A office space within the King Street conservation area, offering a rich mix of historical legacy as well as modern office interior.

Our Southern Business Centre of the Month winner, Business Environment, celebrates their 20th anniversary this year. Managing Director, David Saul, founded the company to ease the difficulties facing small and medium sized businesses during the economic downturn in the 1990s. They recognised that there was a need for quality, flexible and cost-effective office space that was service-led. Today, they have 13 sites across London and the South West.
Minories was added to the Business Environment portfolio in December 2004, offering businesses the perfect location on the fringe of The City with excellent transports links nearby. In addition to its serviced office packages, that range from single person shared desk space to conference facilities, customers also benefit from an on-site gym, stocked kitchens and the famous Friday doughnut run.

David Saul, Managing Director, said: “I’m hugely proud of everything we have achieved in the 20 years Business Environment has been running. This is down to our employees who work tirelessly to provide first-class service to our customers. Minories is a high-performing site and the refurbishment project has even further consolidated its position as a top location – we’re thrilled to win SOS Business Centre of the month.”
A lot has changed but the ethos remains the same with the company committed to delivering tailored office space to its customers.
