Office gets heated over air-con issues

Apparently the normal day-to-day grind that office workers in the have to deal with already isn’t enough: they’ve now created ‘air con rage’ for those precious few moments when the phone isn’t ringing and there are not emails to answer.

Businesses looking to rent may need to be mindful of the little-known issues that an air conditioning system could cause. A new poll from uSwitchforbusiness.com demonstrates that many office workers spend valuable time during the day quibbling about the room temperature, with a hefty 86% admitting to regularly moaning about the temperature, and 56% claiming that their office gets so cold that they actually shiver.

A quarter of the participants admitted to needing extra layers of clothing even in summer months, and a further 12 % stated that shivering makes them less functional.

The director of uSwitchforbusiness.com, James Constant, states, "Instead of cooling things down, gripes and grumbles over air conditioning are actually sending temperatures soaring in workplaces up and down the country."

Reducing the use of air conditioning can have a positive impact on the energy usage, reducing costs and making the business more environmentally friendly, according to the British Council for Offices (BCO).
