SOS Blog Round-Up: October 2011
October has flown by at the SOS>Search Office Space Headquarters, so we thought we better remind you of everything that has happened over the past month, just in case you missed anything!

- Pioneer Offices launch a new concept in serviced office space, by allowing clients to design their own bespoke working environments.
- One of Search Office Space’s business centres revealed their £1.1million plans to renovate Longcroft House in EC2M.
- SOS also announced a whole host of new business centres from across the globe to be added to our growing list. These include sites in Retford, Manchester, Weston-Super-Mare, London, Sheffield, Athens, Germany, Istanbul and Texas.

- Santa Monica, California, was named as one of the world’s up and coming technology hubs, and given the name ‘Silicon Beach’ to rival Silicon Valley, and our very own Silicon Roundabout!
- Croydon’s redevelopment programme plans to erect a new skyscraper inspired by ‘voluptuous women’.
- Concerns in Mumbai rose, when India announced that their serviced office industry had reached an all time high, with supply outweighing demand.
- Avanta Managed Offices revealed their new Chief Executive, Alan Pepper.
- The City of London revealed the end of an era, as there are no more plans to build skyscrapers in the City of London.
- Samsung overtook Apple in the smartphone war.
- Hong Kong remained top of the list, as the most expensive place to rent office space in the world!
- The office space vacancy rate in Ottawa looks set to rise, but Canada remain un-phased.
- Degrees in the housing sector are soon to be phased out by Universities across the capital.
- Lastly, essensys celebrated it’s 5th birthday with a customer conference and boat party along the Thames. The company also revealed their new management software, JEFF.

- A new feature has been added to the SOS blog, which hopes to become a weekly addition - ‘Why is Liverpool Called Liverpool?’ is the first in our series of history based pieces.
- The October nominations for the Search Office Space Business Centre Excellence Award were revealed. A winner has now been decided, so stay tuned for the Winners Story next week!
