SOS Sales Consultant’s brother Will Claye picks up bronze medal at the 2011 World Athletics Championships.
Search Office Space is lucky enough to have its very own claim to fame. Sales Consultant James Smith’s brother is the very Will Claye that was awarded bronze medal in the triple jump at the IAAF World Athletics Championships 2011 on Sunday 4th September. Gold medal was gained by Christian Taylor, while Britain’s Phillips Idowu picked up silver.
The mammoth jump of 17.50m which earned Will his bronze medal signifies a personal best. The jump demonstrates his raw sporting talent which was initially born through an observation of his brother’s talent for athletics, later prompting him to attend training sessions with James.
Will was soon spurred on to great sporting heights, and his list of achievements grew. To name a few, he was crowned winner of both the US Junior Championship and the NCAA outdoor men’s triple jump in 2009, and holds the Arizona triple jump record. Yet despite all this success, Will remains grounded.
When asked how he would describe his brother, the word ‘humble’ immediately jumped to James’ mind – a sentiment which is echoed during a press conference with the three triple jump medallists. Despite his international credibility and the success he has gained, Will expressed simply that “today I came out there and gave it my all and ended up getting a personal best so I can't complain”.
Having won the bronze medal at the IAAF World Athletics Championships 2011, Will Claye’s next conquest lies in the 2012 London Olympic Games where he is hoping to achieve another set of exceptional results and further develop his career. SOS wish Will good luck at the Olympics and hope that James will soon be celebrating his brother’s gold medal victory.
