St John's Shopping Centre in Liverpool Sold for £76.5m

Yesterday, Land Securities confirmed the sale of St John’s Centre, Liverpool’s largest shopping complex, for £76.5m.

The 413,000sqft shopping mall was sold to based property fund, InfraRed Capital Partners, in a deal which is predicted to be completed next month. St John’s Centre comprises of over 100 retail stores, two cinemas, one market, one hotel and a 625 space car park in the heart of .


Chris Huxtable, InfraRed’s Director told press, “We see many UK retailers consolidating their footprint into centres that combine high footfall with affordable rents and adequate store sizes. The St John's Centre has the capacity to offer all these features, and we intend to capitalise on this with substantial new investment”.

InfraRed have also pledged to improve St John’s Centre after Land Securities shelved a £100m refurbishment scheme back in 2008.

Land Securities believes that the sale of St John’s Centre will allow them to recycle the capital into other commercial property opportunities in Liverpool.
