Nice is a seaport city, a Mediterranean tourist centre, and the capital of Alpes-Maritimes department, Provence-Alpes-Côte-d’Azur région, in south-eastern France. The city is located on the Baie (bay) des Anges, 20 miles (32 km) from the Italian border. Sheltered by beautiful hills, Nice has a pleasant climate and is the leading resort city of the Côte d’Azur, or French Riviera. This is the perfect place to sit in the sun and sip cocktails, splash in the azure sea, or simply watch the “bladders” (roller-bladders) cruise the Bay of Angels until the sun goes down and the fairy-lights on the palm trees turn on.
