Officially the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, this is the largest Arab country in Western Asia. The country takes up most of the Arabian Peninsula. It is the second-largest nation in the Arab world, following Algeria. Saudi Arabia is bordered by Jordan, Iraq, Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates, Oman, and Yemen. The country has coastline on the Red Sea and the Persian Gulf. The capital and largest city is Riyadh.

The economy of Saudi Arabia is based on crude oil production, petroleum refining, basic petrochemicals, ammonia, industrial gases, sodium hydroxide (caustic soda), cement, fertilizer, plastics, metals, commercial ship repair, commercial aircraft repair, and construction. One company in the area is Saudi Aramco, officially the Saudi Arabian Oil Company. This company is a Saudi Arabian oil and natural gas company that is based in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia. Entertainment And Dining Out

One of the best things to do in Saudi Arabia is going shopping. You can choose the traditional souks, large department stores, or large mall complexes. With no bars or nightclubs in the country, shopping can be considered the national pastime. Hofuf is a traditional camel market situated at the centre of the Al-Hasa oasis. There is a vibrant local agriculture that allows you to sample delicacies such as fresh and dried Saudi dates. Jebel-al-Qara offers ancient skills and crafts, including pottery procedures that have been passed down through many generations in the same family. Saudi Arabian cuisine includes foods that are spicy and have strong flavours. Dishes with lamb and chicken are common, beef is rare, and pork is forbidden under Islamic law. Local specialities include Pita bread (flat, unleavened bread), and Kultra - chicken or lamb on skewers.

Transport Information

Saudi Arabia has four international airports. They are located in Riyadh, Jeddah, Madinah, and Dammam. The Saudi Arabian Public Transport Company runs a domestic bus service which connects the country’s major cities. The Saptco VIP Express service is a main route which runs between Riyadh and Al-Khobar. Despite Saudi Arabia’s reliable and efficient public transport system, cars are still the main method of travel. Taxis are a reliable way to get around cities. Highway 40 is the country’s most important roadway and links the largest cities across the country. The roadway connects Jeddah, Mecca, Riyadh and Dammam. Highway 40 also intersects with Highway 65, which runs between the capital and Buraidah, Ha’il, Sakakah and Al Kharj.
