Serving as the capital of Israel, Jerusalem is one of the oldest cities in the world. The nearest major airport to Jerusalem is Ben Gurion International Airport (TLV/LLBG). It is 55 km (34 miles) from the city centre. Another major airport in the area is Sde Dov Airport (SDV/LLSD), offering domestic flights from Tel Aviv. This airport is 74 km (46 miles) from Jerusalem. The Jerusalem Light Rail line links the north-eastern neighbourhoods of the city to the south-western neighbourhoods. This light rail line travels along Old City’s west side, passing through the city centre.
