Johannesburg is the largest city in South Africa. It is also the provincial capital of Gauteng. Johannesburg has a lot to offer in terms of sights and activities. The downtown city centre is the most-visited part of Johannesburg. Major points of interest include the Market Theatre area, the university area Braamfontein (with a great Saturday market), the Maboneng Precinct (Arts on Main), The Troyeville Hotel, the Oriental Plaza shopping mall, and so much more. Transport Information

Getting to Johannesburg is quite easy, as it has its own airport – O.R. Tambo International Airport, located 13 miles from the city centre. You can get from the airport to downtown by rail (Gautrain, a rapid suburban rail network) and by taxi (metered). You can drive to Johannesburg via several highways, such as N1 from Cape Town and N3 from Durban. Public transportation includes cross-country trains, MetroRail and Gautrain commuter train, and bus service.
