One of the 9-regions of England, North West England is made up of five different counties including Cumbria, Lancashire, Greater Manchester, Merseyside and Cheshire. Home to some of England’s major industries, this region is also quite popular in terms of football with two of the biggest clubs in Europe, Manchester United and Liverpool, being based in the area. Entertainment And Dining Out
North West England has a host of entertainment options ranging from theatre and live-music to adventure sports and cinema. The Royal Exchange Theatre and Altrincham Garrick are major entertainment venues in the region. Eating out in this part of England brings out a variety of cuisines such as Chinese food at Pacifica Cantonese or Indian food at The Raj. From Greek and Mediterranean cuisine to South American and African food, everything is available in North West England.
The M6, M61, M56, & M53, along with the A6, A584, and A683 are amongst the main motorways and roads leading into North West England. Manchester Airport and Liverpool John Lennon Airport are the biggest international air-links in the area while Blackpool International Airport, Hawarden Airport and Carlisle Lake District Airport also serve the region. The train service runs along the West Coast Main Line and the Liverpool-Manchester Line with major stops at Manchester Piccadilly, Liverpool Lime Street and St. Helens Junction Railway Stations. The Caldervale Line connects York Railway Station to Blackpool North Railway Station amongst others. Liverpool, Heysham, Birkenhead and Fleetwood have major ports or harbours that provide domestic and international water-links.
