Birmingham is the most populous city in the UK outside of London and is a major industrial, commercial and cultural centre in the West Midlands. Rated as a beta world city by the Globalization and World Cities Research Network, Birmingham is an intensely active urban centre that sits right in the heart of central England. Visitors are drawn to the city for a wide range of reasons but not least because it has two of the busiest and best exhibition centres in the UK, namely the International Convention Centre and the National Exhibition Centre. Birmingham, though, is more than just a business hub, with plenty of cultural activity going on in the region as well at top class venues like the Symphony Hall and the National Indoor Arena.
As a location for businesses large and small, Birmingham benefits from its very central location within the geography of Britain. Travelling from the Midlands to London by train takes around 1hr 30 minutes, while Manchester, Liverpool, Leeds and Bristol are all within easy reach in different directions but all within roughly the same timeframe. Among the many businesses based in Birmingham are the property investment and development group St Modwen, train operators London Midland and the iconic British food brands Bird s Custard and HP Foods.
Birmingham is great place to enjoy a show, with virtually every interest or passion catered for throughout the year, from ballet to heavy metal music performances. Popular venues include the New Alexandra Theatre and the Hippodrome. Much-loved museums in the city include Aston Hall, a country house with incredible gardens built in the 17th century, and the Birmingham Museum & Art Gallery, best known for its Pre-Raphaelite collection.
Birmingham s range of quality restaurants reflects the wide variety of cultural influences and cuisines across the city. Among the best eateries you ll find centrally are Ju Ju s Cafe on Canal Square and Purnell s on Cornwall Street, both of which serve excellent British cuisine in very comfortable and stylish surroundings. Meanwhile, when it comes to nightlife, most visitors to Birmingham head for Broad Street where you ll find the likes of Springbok Bar and O Neill s welcoming revellers from around the UK, Europe and the world.
Prices typically are all-inclusive of utilities costs, broadband, meeting room access, and are exempt from business rates (package varies per office).
