The ceremonial county of Hertfordshire is one of the Home Counties, boasting a rich history that dates back many centuries. The area was originally earmarked for a fortress that was built in Hertford in 913 and there is evidence of human occupation in the area dating back to the Middle Stone Age. Today, Hertfordshire still takes pride in its rich heritage but also boasts many modern facilities and amenities as well as being home to a diverse array of unique cities and towns, including England’s second garden city, Welwyn Garden City. The county is packed with fascinating historical and cultural attractions such as Hatfield house where the 1989 Batman film and sequel Batman returns (1992) was filmed in parts. Knebworth House is an interesting gothic manor house with impressive garden and frequently hosts major open air music events and festivals.
There are many different types of businesses and professionals that operate in Hertfordshire, taking up office space within the various towns and cities within the county. This includes everything from small businesses and single-owner enterprises through to big name businesses and global corporations. Companies that have head offices in Hertfordshire include Tescos, Dixons, Ocado, Renault and Noble Foods.
When it comes to entertainment, Hertfordshire has something to suit every taste and preference, ranging from quaint pubs and elegant bars through to lively music venues, performing arts venues, cinema, and exciting nightlife. Dining out in this county is also an experience, as you will find cuisine from countries all around the world. With a wide range of restaurants to choose from in the various towns and cities in the county, you can try everything from traditional British dishes through to Italian, Indian, Spanish, Greek, modern European and much more. Auberge du Lac at Brocket Hall in Welwyn has a Michelin star and is well worth a visit.
A variety of reliable and efficient modes of transport can be used throughout Hertfordshire, although this does depend on which part of the county you are in. Amongst the different transport modes you can use are rail services, taxis, coaches, and buses. The road networks are well connected, which means that it is also easy to drive around this area. The rail service in Hertfordshire runs, for the most part, which direct routes into London.
