A small town in the county of West Sussex, Midhurst is situated on the banks of the River Rother and has a population of under 5,000. The town is built on the grounds where Midhurst Castle once stood. H. G. Wells went to school in this town, a fact that forms part of its rich cultural history. The modern day Midhurst hosts the Veuve Clicquot Gold Cup, which is one of the biggest polo competitions in England. Liphook and Haslemere railway stations are the closest train links and take commuters along the Portsmouth Direct Line.
