Literally translating to ’Mouth of the River Ness’, Inverness is a large and vibrant city situated in the Scottish Highlands. Considered the capital of the Highlands, Inverness boasts a rich and long history and is home to two historical battle sites, which are the site of the battle of Blàr nam Fèinne and the site of the Battle of Culloden. The northernmost city in the UK, Inverness has seen a rapid expansion in terms of population over the past decade. There are many students in the area largely due to the presence of Inverness College, which is the main campus for the University of the Highlands and Islands.

Over the years, Inverness has become known for a number of specialist industries, including distilling. However, there has been a shift over the years, with the area now home to more high tech businesses and companies.
