The market town of Coleshill is named after the River Cole and is on the county borders of Birmingham and Warwickshire. This town boasts a rich and varied history that dates back to the Iron Age. A number of historical finds have been unearthed by archaeologists over the years, including some relating to the Roman period. The town received market status in 1207after being granted a charter by King John.
