Westchester is a county in New York State. It is situated in the New York metro area, to the immediate north of the New York City borough of the Bronx. Westchester covers an area of 450 square miles and is made up of six cities, 19 towns, and 20 villages. Any land area in the county that is not contained in one of the cities is in a town. The Hudson Line travels the far west flank of the county along the bank of the river. The Harlem line drives up the middle, and the New Haven line follows the shore of Long Island Sound. • New York City Subway goes to the southern edge of Westchester at which point you can take a bus to other areas.
