The Amtrak Southwest Chief travels east-west across the state, passing through Kansas City, Lawrence, Topeka, Newton, Hutchinson, Dodge City, and Garden City. It provides service to and from Chicago and Los Angeles. There is also daily service to St. Louis from Kansas City. There is also regular bus service to and from many destinations in Kansas.
