The state of Montana is located in the northwestern region of the United State of America. Montana is a gateway to the Yellowstone National Park. With over 500 species of wildlife in the state, it is common to see elk, deer, antelope, wolves, and in the wilderness area – bears. Other attractions include Glacier National Park, Yellowstone National Park, Museum of the Rockies, Museum of the Plains Indian, Black Feet Reservation, Little Bighorn Battlefield, National Monument and Custer National Cemetery, Flathead Lake, and the Lewis and Clark Interpretive Center. Montana is home to a large number of cattle ranches and beef plays an important part in the states diet. Local specialties include buffalo burgers, buttermilk biscuits, white honey, and Smettanick pie (cherry jam, almonds and sour cream). There is also a wide range of international cuisine available throughout the state.
The most common way to get around Montana is to drive, with Interstate Highways 15 and 90 running through the middle of the state. There are several major airports, including Billings, Missoula, Helena, Great Falls, Bozeman, and Kalispell. There are Amtrak train routes throughout the state, as well as intercity bus services.
