The Ivory Coast is officially the Republic of Côte d’Ivoire. This is a country situated in West Africa bordered by the North Atlantic Ocean, Ghana, Liberia, Guinea, Mali, and Burkina Faso. The capital of the country is Yamoussoukro, and the largest city is Abidjan.

Business Information

The Ivory Coast’s economy is based on its transit trade role with neighbouring countries. Since the Côte d’Ivoire has a port, the surrounding landlocked countries relay on the Ivory Coast for their main trade route. The Ivory Coast is the world’s largest exporter of cocoa. La Poste is the official postal service and Air Ivoire is the national airline. There are many options throughout the Ivory Coast for office space to rent.

Entertainment And Dining Out

There are many interesting things to see and do within the Ivory Coast, including the area surrounding the town of Man. Situated in the west of the country; this heavily forested region provides waterfalls and options for hiking or climbing to the peak of Mount Tonkoui. The town of Yamoussoukro is located 230 km (143 miles) north of Abidjan. This vibrant town offers a market, the Palace and Plantations of the President, and a Mosque. The stained glass covered Cathédrale Notre-Dame-de-la-Paix was paid for and commissioned by Félix Houphouët-Boigny, who was Côte d’Ivoire’s president for 33 years. This cathedral is slightly smaller than St Peter’s in Rome, however the total area of stained glass is more than you will find in all the cathedrals in France. There are a number of African restaurants throughout the country that cater to tourists. One of the best areas to try the spicy African dishes is in the Treichville district of Abidjan. Country specialities include N’voufou – made with mashed bananas or yams that are mixed with palm oil and served with an aubergine sauce, or Kedjenou – which is a chicken and vegetable mixture sealed in banana leaves.

Transport Information

The Abidjan Felix-Houphouet Boigny International Airport (Code: ABJ) is the main point of entry for the Ivory Coast. This airport is located 16km (10 miles) from Abidjan. You can easily reach the Ivory Coast from Ghana with bus services running between Accra and Abidjan. Within the country, well-connected roads make inter-city travel easy and efficient. The A3 is a major highway that runs from Abidjan to Yamoussoukro and Bouake. Taxis are a great way to get around Abidjan.
